Oil Separators and Skimmers
Degreasers play a vital part in the efficiency of Oil and Water separators and Oil skimmers especially in mechanized separator solutions.
Many degreasers are a “slow release” holding the hydrocarbon in bond, often only releasing the hydrocarbons after the separation process. This results in inadequate oil separation allowing the contaminated water through to the final pond. Water contaminated with hydrocarbons, pose a huge environmental risk when disposed of down water ways, ponds, dams, and rivers thus introducing huge risk to the customers’ compliance, often results in:
- Fines
- Temporary closure and
- Huge costs to rehabilitate the environment.
Our degreasers characterize a “quick split” of oil out of water due to the technology and chemistry we have employed in our formulations, which largely assists the efficiency of the separators and skimmers.
Solvent based degreaser emulsifies the oil with water.
Oil skimmer serves no purpose as all the oil is bonded with the water, preventing only the oil from drifting to the surface of the water for skimming. In this instance the emulsion results in a bad quality of skimmed Oil.
A good example of how our degreasers efficiently release hydrocarbons to settle on the surface allowing efficient skimming for the recovery of high-quality used oils, fuels and diesels.
Separators work highly efficient with our degreasers, minimising sludge build up, allowing free flowing, efficient discharge of the dirty water.
